Having both a desktop and laptop in my home

Hi,

I'm not very knowledgeable in computer terminology, so please excuse me if I make a few mistakes.


I'm finding it harder to sit at a desktop computer.


I'd like to get a laptop, and hook it up to my desktop, so I can use the laptop at all times, with access to the programs on my desktop.



I'd like to be able to sit working on my laptop and access my CPU, so I can use those programs, print things out, etc.


I believe I've heard about accessories that allow me to do this.
